This is the first official publication of The Beatles. With this single Brian Epstein to learn about The Beatles. In late 1961, Brian worked as manager of NEMS music store in Liverpool. October 28, 1961 regular customer Raymond Jones asked for this single. Braen found this single in the catalog import. He is very surprised when he learned that The Beatles are a group of Liverpool. The recording was made in Hamburg’s Friedrich-Ebert-Halle on June 22 & 23, 1961.
1. First pressing, October 23, 1961. Original Polydor company orange German sleeves have “Printed In Germany” and other German text on the back side.
First pressing has orange “scroll” labels with music style definition as “Rock” (second pressing has music style definition as “Twist”). The label lists the artists as Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers. “GEMA/BIEM” credits indicates what company is responsible for the copyright payments for the material released on the record to the proper publishers.
