Long Tall Sally, Parlophone GEP 8913.

Long Tall Sally, Parlophone, GEP 8913, June 19, 1964. The original EP sleeve were manufactured by a yet to be determined printer (identified as “SCP” in the lower right corner) and have laminated rounded flaps.

Later sleeves from the sixties have laminated diagonal-cut flaps and a tab cut on the back side opening. Later sleeves from the seventies are not laminated.

1. First pressing, June 19, 1964. The first pressing has Black label with yellow logo and silver print. “The Parlophone Co. Ltd” printed at the start perimeter print and the publishing year printed as “Recording First Published 1964” and with “SOLD IN U.K.” Push-out center and KT tax code. Matrix numbers: Side 1: 7TCE 822-1N, Side 2: 7TCE 823-1N.

Second variation:

2. Second pressing, summer 1969 – 1973. Black label with yellow logo and silver print. “The Gramophone Co. Ltd” printed at the start perimeter print and the publishing year printed as “(p) 1964”. Push-out or solid center. With or without tax code. Matrix numbers: Side 1: 7TCE 822-1N, Side 2: 7TCE 823-1N.

3. Third pressing, 1978 – 1981. In the edition of this period, it was for the Long Tall Sally, for some reason, that the old label design, characteristic of the 1969-1973 edition, was used. Why it happened is unknown to us. We can only state this fact. Matrix numbers: Side 1: 7TCE 822-1N, Side 2: 7TCE 823-1N.

4. Fourth pressing, November 20, 2014. Catalogue number (barcode): 0602537995059. Limited Edition to 7,000 UK Copies. Remastered by George and Giles Martin, cut from the original analogue tapes at Abbey Road Studios. The four track EP “Long Tall Sally” is to be released in Mono for Record Store Day’s Black Friday in a very limited quantity. The EP complements the recent release of The Beatles in Mono vinyl box and individual vinyl reissues.

The front laminated sleeve has three flaps. At the bottom of the back appeared text: “1964 The copyright in this sound recording is owned by Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group). 2014 Calderstone Productions Limited (a division of Universal Music Group)… “Beatles” is a trademark of Apple Corps Limited… 0602537995059. 3799505.”

Included a cardboard insert to promote the “Beatles in Mono” box and “Record Store Day Exclusive” sticker with barcode, on the srinkwrap.
